LEARNING

Careers and pathways

Northcote High School works closely with students to promote an understanding of and access to multiple career, vocation and education options. Individual appointments with our careers office can be made by students and parents to discuss specific course and career requirements.

Managed Individual Pathways (MIPs)

MIPs is an initiative of the Victorian Government, designed to assist students in Years 10 to Year 12 to develop an individual pathways plan and to make informed decisions about effective transitions between education, training and employment. Students are offered assistance with subject selection, course information, vocational pathway planning, resume writing, job applications, employment information, work experience placements, VTAC applications and goal setting.

Work experience program

Work experience is an enormously beneficial part of our educational program where students experience working life, often for the first time. Short-term placement of our students with employers provides them with insights into their chosen industry. Students are placed with employers at the employer’s premises primarily to observe and learn.
