As one of the first schools accredited by the Department of Education to take International Students, Northcote High School has successfully developed a comprehensive program to provide opportunities for students to improve their English language skills, prepare themselves for university entrance, improve career opportunities and be able to share the richness of their own culture.

With about 80 International students engaged in study, Northcote High School is undeniably the first choice for future global citizens. Our International Students are from wide international communities, such as China, Vietnam, Thailand, Italy, Germany, France, Korea, India, Brazil and Sri Lanka. Due to demand for places at the school, Northcote High School can only accept International Students at Year 10, 11 and 12 levels.

Located only 2.5 kilometres from Melbourne CBD, Northcote High is well serviced by public transport and within walking distance to shops, cafes, libraries and universities.

We are proud of our International Students’ accomplishments and achievements, as well as the connections and support we provide them. 

Strong International Student support

NHS boasts an international student program that is well integrated into the broader school community and that provides very strong support and guidance. Our teachers are committed professionals who are experienced, enthusiastic, caring and supportive, aiming to be positive role models for students in lifelong learning.

The School provides an intensive English as a Second Language (EAL) program for students from a non-English speaking background. NHS also offers after-school specific subject tutorials. 

 

Rich Extra-Curricular Activities

At Northcote High School, we provide comprehensive academic subjects and rich extra-curricular activities to develop well-rounded and socially skilled students. Northcote High School's rich and active extra-curricular activities include school production, debating, hobby clubs, public speaking competition, community sports club, music, school sports, extra tutorial classes, camp, youth forum, community engagement as well as interstate and international tours.
